How to Make a Shower Room        Part 4 of 5
Adamsez Penta screen
The Adamsez Penta screen sits in holes on the tray which are sealed with a rubber gasket.
The Croydex Bar Mixer has been adapted with a Croydex diverter valve to allow an
extra large overhead shower head to be used as well as a sliding rail flexible hose head.
The diverter allows either or both. The shower head is the biggest I have come across and it has an easy clean surface.
Cloakroom basin
The basin is a cloakroom version which fits into a 200mm counter top.
On paper it looked as if this would be all that would fit but once the units were in place a deeper one would have worked as well.
Dudley cistern
The Dudley front access cistern comes ready assembled
and can even be bought ready mounted in the Shades base unit.

Base units
The base units are hung on the wall in the same way as wall units.
There are two front legs to level up, and the adjustable screws on the rise and fall brackets.
This keeps them snug against the wall so you don't need additional fixings.
The cistern cupboard front can slip in after the pan is positioned so you can check all connections,
rather than working blind as with some 'back to the wall' units.
It's sod's law that my set of plumber's hole saws didn't have the right size.
Having bought a new hole saw, I drilled the fascia from both sides to avoid breakout on the surface.

With more homes requiring en suite facilities and the overall footprint of houses getting smaller, how can you avoid a bath or shower room feeling cramped? Fitted furniture is one way. The old room contained nothing more than a shower, a chair and a dressing table. Now with a very generous shower 1200 x 800mm, a basin, WC and two Shades draw units and a wall cupboard, everyone comments that the room looks and feels larger.

Shades has a fitting service for its units if you don't fancy the job, and you can also order all the units ready to go with cut-outs for the basin if your carpentry skills aren't up to jigsawing out the fascia, but the template with the basin makes the job easy.
