Klober's Roll-Fix hip and ridge kits are designed to provide a quicker way of achieving a water tight dry hip and the option of a ventilated ridge. A dry ridge and hip can be fitted in any weather and if your trowel skills aren't up to pointing ridges and hips this system is arguably neater. It also offers a more secure fixing though of course there is nothing to stop you using a mechanical fixing for back up on a mortar bedded system.

In most cases tile batten spacers are used in between the battens to raise the hip batten up so it forms a good support for the hip tile. If the angle is sufficiently steep that no spacers are required then the batten can be fixed directly to the hip. You just need to do a trial fit of a hip title to see how it sits.

Ideally (though it wasn't done here) the first strip should be cut down to half length so the joints with the tiles are staggered. This stops the nail head on the overlap coinciding with the screw in the tile joints.

If you don't need a ventilated ridge the membrane can be lapped over the top in the normal way.
